California-based Karma Automotive is set to make waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market with its first-ever all-electric models: the Kaveya coupe and Gyesera sedan. These high-performance EVs mark Karma’s strategic relaunch and rebranding as an upmarket EV brand, focusing on an ‘ultra-luxury vehicle lineup.’ Let’s delve into the details of these impressive electric offerings.
Karma Kaveya Coupe: Flagship EV Super Coupe GT The Kaveya, positioned as Karma’s flagship, boasts a striking design with butterfly doors, sporty bumpers, and a deployable rear spoiler. With an aluminum spaceframe, carbon fiber body panels, and aluminum SLA suspension, the Kaveya embodies an “EV super coupe GT.” Two versions are planned: a 536-horsepower rear-wheel-drive variant expected in Q4 2025 and a powerful 1,180-horsepower all-wheel-drive variant arriving a year later. The Kaveya aims for a sub-3-second 0-60 mph acceleration and a top speed exceeding 180 mph. Both versions feature a 120-kilowatt-hour battery pack with a charging time of 45 minutes from 10 to 80 percent state of charge.
Karma Gyesera Sedan: All-Electric Touring Sedan The Gyesera, described as Karma’s first all-electric ‘touring sedan,’ is expected to debut in Q4 2024. With a coupe-like profile similar to the Kaveya, it features a rear-wheel-drive electric powertrain generating 590 horsepower and 693 pound-feet of torque. The Gyesera’s 120-kWh battery pack offers a range of over 250 miles. The sedan is longer than a Tesla Model S and shares construction elements with the Kaveya, including an aluminum spaceframe, carbon fiber, and aluminum body panels. Key features include an 11.6-inch infotainment screen, offering a glimpse of Karma’s commitment to blending performance with cutting-edge technology.
Design and Development: Both the Kaveya and Gyesera showcase the design prowess of Karma’s team, led by industry veteran Michelle Christensen, renowned for her work on the Acura NSX supercar. The company aims to debut new products and concepts every six months, starting with the revived Revero plug-in hybrid sedan in Q3 2024.
Karma’s foray into the all-electric market with the Kaveya and Gyesera signifies a bold step towards establishing itself as a prominent player in the luxury EV segment. With impressive power figures, cutting-edge design, and a commitment to continuous innovation, Karma aims to redefine the standards of ultra-luxury electric vehicles. As the automotive industry eagerly anticipates these releases, Karma’s strategic rebranding and focus on sustainability position it as a key contender in the rapidly evolving EV landscape. Stay tuned for more updates as Karma paves the way for a new era of high-performance electric vehicles.
