Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV Joins RCB as Official Partner for IPL 2023
Mahindra is making a significant entry into the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market with the introduction of the Mahindra XUV400, which is a derivative of the popular XUV300 compact SUV. Adding to the excitement, the Mahindra XUV400 is now an official partner of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2023 season. The RCB is captained by Virat Kohli, one of the greatest cricketers of our generation, who has been an integral part of the RCB franchise since the inception of the IPL. While RCB has yet to secure an IPL championship, the team continues to enjoy unwavering support from its fans.
Mahindra has seized the opportunity to align itself with one of the world’s most significant sporting events by having IPL players pose alongside the XUV400 electric SUV.
The official Mahindra XUV400 Twitter page posted an image of the electric SUV surrounded by IPL players, prominently featuring Virat Kohli. The caption accompanying the image reads, “Get ready to #GoGreen with the All-Electric XUV400 and @RCBTweets. Stay tuned for more.” This official announcement confirms that the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV has become an official sponsor of the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the IPL 2023 season, a common occurrence in major sporting events.
The Mahindra XUV400 marks the company’s entry into the burgeoning EV industry in India, a market currently dominated by Tata Motors. While the premium luxury EV segment has seen several entrants, Tata Motors has successfully captured the lower-end market. Mahindra aims to reclaim market share by converting the XUV300 into the XUV400, with added length and an electric motor replacing the conventional internal combustion engine.
Specifications of the Mahindra XUV400
The Mahindra XUV400 is equipped with a 39.4 kWh IP67-rated Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery that powers an electric motor, delivering a respectable 150 PS and 310 Nm of peak power and torque. This powertrain propels the EV from 0-100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds, making it impressively quick. The top speed is limited to a practical 150 km/h. Under ideal conditions, the XUV400 offers a range of 456 km on a single charge. With a 50 kW DC fast charger, it can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 50 minutes. The price range for the XUV400 starts from Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
As Mahindra ventures into the electric vehicle segment with the XUV400, its partnership with RCB in the IPL 2023 season serves as a testament to the growing role of EVs in major sporting events and the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
