Exciting news! Mahindra’s all-new XUV400 electric SUV is generating a massive buzz, even before hitting the roads. Surprisingly, that hasn’t stopped eager buyers from jumping in – with over 10,000 bookings already.

Mahindra wasted no time. Bookings for their very first electric SUV, the XUV400, opened recently. And guess what? In just 5 days, they’ve received an impressive 10,000 bookings. The XUV400 made its debut on January 16th, starting at INR 15.99 lakh. Mahindra’s goal is to get 20,000 units out within a year of launch. Deliveries are set to start in March for the XUV400 EL variant, and around Diwali for the XUV400 EC variant.

Here’s a heads-up: initial pricing tends to be lower for new Mahindra vehicles. After the first 5,000 units, prices often go up. Bookings and test drives are available at 34 dealerships across India.

This strong demand for the XUV400 could give Tata Motors something to think about. The Tata Nexon EV and Nexon EV Max have been leaders in the budget electric SUV segment. In fact, Nexon EV sales crossed 35,000 in November 2022.

The XUV400 is ready to take on the Tata Nexon EV and Nexon EV Max. It comes in two flavors: EC and EL. The EC version packs a 34.5 kWh battery that can go 375 km on a single charge. It delivers 150 Ps and 310 Nm of torque. Plus, it boasts features like 4 disc brakes, connected car tech, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The EL variant goes bigger with a 39.4 kWh battery, certified for 456 km range. It adds extras like keyless entry, an electric sunroof, and side & curtain airbags.

Mahindra is proud to claim the XUV400 is the quickest in its category. It goes 0-100 kmph in only 8.3 seconds and tops out at 150 kmph. With a length of 4200 mm and a wheelbase of 2600 mm, there’s plenty of space inside. You’ll also find a class-leading boot space of 378 litres. The XUV400 offers five colors and includes a standard warranty of 3 years/unlimited km, along with an 8-year/160k km warranty for the battery and motor.

While electric vehicles are still gaining ground in India, the Tata Nexon has built a solid reputation over the last 2 years. Surprisingly, the XUV400 electric has managed to stir up massive bookings despite being a new kid on the block. Tata Motors is taking notice, and they’ve responded by lowering prices and extending the range for both Nexon EV and EV Max.

In other news, Mahindra is putting up a special edition of the XUV400 called “One of One,” and the bids have already crossed Rs 1.2 crores.
